Obverse description The obverse features the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicted with a draped neckline and wearing a pearl necklace, her hair arranged in a characteristic coiffure. The portrait is set within a raised inner circle against a deeply mirrored proof field, with the surrounding annular border rendered in a dark niobium hue. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the left arc, D•G•REGINA along the right arc, and the date 2014 appears at the bottom of the coin in the lower field.

Reverse description The reverse displays a centrally positioned, naturalistically rendered poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) in applied color, with deeply veined bracts rendered in rich purple-violet hues and a cluster of small cyathia at the center. The floral motif is set within a raised inner circle, behind which additional poinsettia leaves are engraved in the silver field, creating a layered botanical composition. The engraver's initials BAL appear below the central design within the inner circle. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper border, and 5 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower border, both within the dark niobium outer ring.
