| Reverse description | The reverse presents a dramatic, fully colorized and high-relief depiction of the eight planets of the Solar System arranged in a dynamic, painterly composition against a deep black field. The foreground features an intensely textured volcanic body in amber and red tones, likely representing Venus or Io, rising above jagged silver ridges. Saturn dominates the upper center with its characteristic ring system rendered in warm gold and brown hues, while Jupiter occupies the upper right with bold horizontal bands of red, ochre, and white. Earth appears in the upper left in vibrant blue and green, accompanied by a grey cratered body and a ringed ice giant in blue-grey tones. Mars and two smaller dark bodies are visible along the left margin. The artist's initials 'SR' appear in the lower left field. |

| Additional information |
Perth Mint has produced commemorative issues on behalf of Tuvalu since the early 2000s, exploiting the island nation's willingness to license its monetary authority for collector series that have no connection to Tuvaluan economic life. The arrangement is straightforward: Tuvalu provides legal-tender status, Perth provides everything else.
This piece is one of nine in the Planets series, each individually released. The five-ounce format places it in Perth's mid-tier collector range, below the kilo issues but above the standard one-ounce program coins.
