Obverse description The national coat of arms of Barbados occupies the central field, featuring a shield bearing a fig tree and two pride-of-Barbados flowers, supported by a dolphin (fish) to the left and a pelican to the right. Above the shield rests a helmet with a mantling and a crest depicting an arm holding two stalks of sugar cane crossed with a trident. A ribbon scroll below the shield bears the national motto PRIDE AND INDUSTRY. The country name BARBADOS arcs along the upper legend, and the date 1994 appears in the lower field, all within a beaded border.
