Reverse description A large polished black oil droplet dominates the centre of the composition, set against a panoramic scene evoking the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug (Yugra). To the left, traditional conical chum tents, reindeer, a sledge with a figure, and stylised Siberian pine trees are depicted; to the right, an oil derrick and a nodding-donkey pump jack with pipeline infrastructure are rendered in fine detail against a wintry sky. The Yugra regional logo and the Cyrillic legend ЮГРА appear in the lower centre, with the date 2010 inscribed at the very bottom of the field.

Additional information

Part of Cook Islands' long-running Pacific Wildlife series, this issue was struck at a moment when the global offshore drilling industry was dominating headlines — the Deepwater Horizon blowout occurred the same year, April 2010, making any petroleum-themed release from that calendar year quietly awkward in retrospect.
