Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II CANADA D·G·REGINA 5 DOLLARS 2018
Reverse description The reverse, designed by Pandora Young, presents an intricate mehndi-inspired radial composition rendered in high relief, featuring a twelve-pointed symmetrical pattern referencing the months of the year. A centrally placed lotus blossom, a motif traditional to henna art, anchors the design and frames a faceted yellow Swarovski crystal representing topaz, the birthstone for November. Selective yellow coloring harmonizes with the crystal, creating a vibrant chromatic contrast against the finely engraved silver relief. The surrounding field is populated with delicate curvilinear and geometric ornamental details characteristic of the South Asian mehndi tradition. The designer's initials PY appear within the design.
