Additional information

Kamenetz-Podolsky fortress in western Ukraine — the subject of this issue — changed hands repeatedly across its history, passing between Lithuanian, Polish, Ottoman, and Russian control before the twentieth century. The Ottomans held it from 1672 to 1699 following the Treaty of Buchach, one of the more humiliating agreements in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth history, ceding the entire region without a battle lost on that frontier.

Cook Islands issued numerous collector pieces under Niue and its own authority during this period targeting the Eastern European commemorative market directly.
