| Obverse description | The obverse presents a split-field design combining a mirror-polished dark ground on the right with a satin-finished ground on the left. To the left, the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, bareheaded and draped, faces right in high relief, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The denomination '5 DOLLARS' and date '2019' are inscribed in the left field below the portrait. The circular legend '· ELIZABETH II · NIUE ISLAND ·' runs along the upper periphery. To the right of the portrait, occupying the contrasting mirror field, appears a decorative sun motif with a stylised face and, below it, a cross-shaped arrangement of squares bearing alchemical and Enochian symbols associated with John Dee, with the Czech Mint mark visible among them. |

| Reverse description | The reverse employs the same split-field technique, dividing the design vertically between a frosted satin ground on the left and a mirror-polished dark ground on the right. The left half features a large arrangement of alchemical and Enochian symbols associated with John Dee, including the Monas Hieroglyphica and elemental glyphs rendered in bold relief. The right half presents a finely detailed portrait bust of John Dee facing left, rendered with his characteristic long beard and cap, in a style evoking Renaissance portraiture. The legend 'JOHN DEE' is inscribed vertically along the left margin, while the dates '1527 - 1608/9' appear along the right periphery in a diagonal orientation. |
