Obverse description Diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, engraved by Ian Rank-Broadley after his fourth definitive portrait, with the engraver's initials 'IRB' incused below the truncation of the bust. The peripheral legend reads 'ELIZABETH II' to the left and 'NIUE FIVE DOLLARS' to the right, all in raised Latin lettering. Below the bust, the date '2017' appears prominently in the exergue, flanked by the weight indicator '2oz' to the left and the fineness mark 'Ag999' to the right.

Additional information

Niue has operated as a coin-issuing jurisdiction since 1987, licensing its name to foreign mints — primarily the Polish Mint in Warsaw — in exchange for royalties that constitute a meaningful share of the island's government revenue. The Four Seasons series is one of dozens of such arrangements, produced entirely for the collector market with no pretense of circulation.
