Reverse description Full-color reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's celebrated painting 'Sunflowers' (1889), applied to the rectangular silver field using selective color printing technology. The composition faithfully depicts fifteen sunflowers in various stages of bloom and decay, arranged in a terracotta vase set upon a flat surface against a warm golden-yellow background. The bold impasto-style brushwork of the original oil painting is rendered in rich amber, ochre, and deep brown tones. The rectangular format of the coin is ideally suited to the portrait orientation of the source artwork.
