Reverse description A full-color depiction of an English Electric Lightning supersonic interceptor aircraft in RAF livery — rendered in red, white, and silver with RAF roundels on the fuselage and delta wing — shown in dynamic flight among billowing clouds. Above the aircraft in the upper field appears a stylized silhouette of the Lightning within a circular emblem. The curved legend 100 YEARS OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE is inscribed along the upper periphery, while ENGLISH ELECTRIC LIGHTNING 1959–1988 curves along the lower periphery. The overall composition commemorates the centenary of the Royal Air Force and the service history of the iconic British jet fighter.
