Obverse description Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, occupying the left half of the field. The legend ELIZABETH II · NIUE ISLAND · arcs along the upper rim in raised Latin characters. The denomination 5 DOLLARS and the date 2019 appear in the lower left field. To the right of the portrait, against a deeply mirrored proof background, a cross-shaped arrangement of alchemical symbol tablets is depicted alongside a stylised radiant sun face, referencing the occult and alchemical themes of the series. Reverse description Large high-relief portrait of Edward Kelley, the English alchemist and occultist (1555–1597), rendered in a Renaissance style and occupying the left half of the field. The face is shown nearly full-frontal, with long wavy hair and a full beard, rendered with fine sculptural detail against a mirrored proof background. The right half of the field displays large alchemical and occult symbols, including a stylised serpent, a cross, and a circle, referencing Kelley's practice of alchemy and spirit communication. The legend EDWARD KELLEY runs vertically along the left rim, and the dates 1555 – 1597 appear in raised lettering along the right side of the field.
