Additional information

Tokelau has no mint of its own and no indigenous coinage tradition — these issues are struck under contract, typically in New Zealand or by the Perth Mint, on behalf of the territory's tiny administration. The Eastern brown snake series targeted the collector bullion market directly, producing fractional gold pieces at weights impractical for any transactional purpose. At 0.5 g of .9999 fine gold, the intrinsic value at issue was well under five dollars at prevailing spot.
