| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth-effigy portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, shown as a right-facing draped bust wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, with the engraver's initials IRB truncated at the neck. The effigy is rendered in gold gilding and set within an ornate gilt cartouche of scrolling foliate and acanthus ornament framing the upper and lower portions of the field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs to the upper left and NIUE ISLAND to the upper right of the portrait, both in gilt lettering.
