| Reverse description | A gilt high-relief rendition of the famous marble statue Augustus of Prima Porta, depicting the emperor standing in a commanding pose with his right arm raised and a paludamentum (military cloak) draped over his left arm, his elaborately decorated cuirass rendered in gold gilding. A small Cupid figure riding a dolphin appears at his feet. The design is framed by an ornate architectural arch adorned with classical relief carvings, set with eight applied red crystal gemstones at the corners and midpoints of the octagonal border. The inscription AUGUSTUS OF PRIMA PORTA runs vertically along the left field, VATICAN ART appears in the upper right field alongside a representation of St. Peter's dome, and the date 2015 is inscribed vertically along the right border. |
