Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara, rendered in a refined, contemporary portrait style by engraver Patrick Brinley. The effigy occupies the central field, with hair elegantly styled and a tiara set with pearls and gems. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left periphery and 'CANADA 1974' along the right, separated at the base of the design by a small maple leaf device. The open field surrounding the portrait gives the obverse a clean, medallic character.
