| Reverse description | Colorized depiction of the Orthodox Christian icon of the Dormition (Assumption) of the Most Holy Theotokos, rendered in the traditional Byzantine iconographic style with applied gold and brown coloring. The Virgin Mary is shown recumbent on a funeral bier at centre, surrounded by the Twelve Apostles in attitudes of mourning and veneration, their haloes gilt.
