Obverse description Central effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing profile, wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by engraver Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear truncated below the neck. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the upper left edge and COOK ISLANDS along the upper right edge of the hexagonal field, both in raised Latin characters. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is inscribed in bold relief across the lower portion of the field. The mirror-polished proof field provides strong contrast against the finely detailed effigy.
