| Obverse description | Obverse depicts a small incuse effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, centrally positioned within the round gold flan. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II AU 900 NIUE 2018, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS inscribed prominently above the effigy. Two circular holes pierced through the flan at either side accommodate the braided gold cord with which the coin is worn as a pendant. The coin bears the engraver's initials IRB below the portrait. The fields are lightly finished in keeping with the miniature bullion coin format. |
