Additional information

Part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing "Deadly and Dangerous" wildlife series, this issue targets the collector market rather than circulation — struck to proof standard and never intended as spending money. The desert scorpion (Urodacus yaschenkoi) is native to the arid interior and is among the more medically significant scorpion species on the continent, capable of producing venom potent enough to require clinical attention.

The "6th Portrait" designation places this within the post-2019 Jody Clark effigy revision adopted across Commonwealth mints.
