Additional information

Issued to mark the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the first time Queensland hosted the event since Brisbane in 1982. Australia's broader dominance of the Games medal table — the host nation has finished first in the overall tally at every Commonwealth Games held on Australian soil — gave the RAM considerable commercial motivation to produce an extensive commemorative program around the 2018 edition. Selective gold plating on proof silver had become a house specialty by this point, applied here to distinguish the Games' branding without committing to a full gold strike.
