| Obverse description | The concave obverse features the CSIRO Parkes radio telescope oriented skyward toward the Moon, rendered against a background field bearing an excerpt from Commander Neil Armstrong's lunar landing journal transcript. The fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, facing right and wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, is set within a circular cartouche at the lower portion of the design. The surrounding legend reads FIVE DOLLARS ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2019, with the engraver's initials IRB incorporated into the design. The domed format of the flan enhances the three-dimensional perspective of the telescopic imagery. |
