| Reverse description | Central device depicts a stylized Great White Shark in dynamic motion, rendered with fine engraved line work suggesting musculature and form, set against a radiating sunburst pattern in the field. The legend DISCOVER AUSTRALIA arcs across the upper border, while the lower field carries the inscription 2011 GREAT WHITE SHARK 1/25 oz 9999 GOLD. The Perth Mint's P mintmark appears to the left of the central device, and the designer's initials DB are incused near the lower right of the shark motif. |

| Additional information |
Part of Perth Mint's Australian Shark series, this 1/40 oz issue was one of the smaller fractional denominations produced during the early 2010s gold bull market, when investor demand for low-entry-point bullion pieces pushed mints worldwide toward sub-gram fractional formats. The Great White was the first subject in the series, which ran through several apex predator subjects over subsequent years.
