The Bathurst Ladies Organizing Committee was established in 1815 to raise funds for the relief of convicts newly arrived in the Bathurst region — one of the earliest recorded examples of civilian welfare organization in inland New South Wales, predating formal government social infrastructure by decades. This coin is part of the RAM's Masterpieces in Silver series, which ran through the early 2000s commemorating figures and bodies largely absent from mainstream Australian numismatic history.
