Obverse lettering Ottawa, May 1st. 1912. The Dominion of Canada will pay to the bearer Five Dollars
Reverse description The reverse is executed entirely in intricate guilloche lathe-work in a steel-blue tint, with three large interlocking rosette medallions across the centre, the middle one surmounted by a bold ornamental 'V' denomination letter. The numeral '5' appears in each outer medallion and is repeated in the marginal borders on all four sides. The legend 'DOMINION OF CANADA' runs along the top, with 'FIVE DOLLARS' in the lower border, and the printer's imprint 'American Bank Note Company, Ottawa' appears at the base.
