Obverse description Blue intaglio print on orange guilloche underprint. The Royal Arms vignette occupies the upper centre, flanked by two oval medallions each bearing the denomination numeral "$5" within fine lathe-work borders. A script promise-to-pay legend in cursive lettering runs across the centre panel, with the place of issue "PORT OF SPAIN" below, followed by the authority line "By order of the Court of Directors of the Colonial Bank." The bank title "COLONIAL BANK" appears in bold capitals along the top border, and "TRINIDAD" along the bottom border, with a rectangular guilloche panel carrying "FIVE DOLLARS" at lower centre. This is a Specimen example, cancelled by pin-perforations.
