Additional information

The Republic of the Marshall Islands built a substantial novelty coinage program through the 1990s, contracting production to foreign mints and targeting collector markets rather than circulation. These issues were legal tender in name only — the islands had no practical use for large copper-nickel rounds, and virtually none entered commerce.

The Model A Ford was produced from 1927 to 1931, replacing the long-running Model T after Henry Ford briefly shut down his entire production line for retooling — a pause that idled roughly 100,000 workers for six months.
