Obverse description The obverse features the Public Seal of Niue rendered in high relief at center, depicting a crowned badge with an ornate wreath surround, a central device of crossed spears beneath the seal, and a scroll inscribed ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI. The field is dramatically divided into two contrasting zones: the left half rendered in frosted matte silver depicts multiple birds in flight rising above multiple strands of barbed wire and chain-link fencing, symbolizing freedom and oppression, while the right half is rendered in deep mirror proof finish presenting the same motifs in stark contrast. The legend FIVE DOLLARS arcs along the upper rim in bold capital letters, with the Czech Mint monogram CM at lower left and the designer's initials mh at lower right.
