Obverse description The central field features the Public Seal of Niue, depicted as a crowned circular badge bearing a stylised floral motif and inscribed PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE, surmounted by a royal crown and supported by a ribbon scroll bearing the Niuean motto ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI with two crossed weapons below. The seal is set within a large ship's wheel rendered in high relief, whose spokes radiate outward toward the ornate border. The outer border of the coin is decorated with rolling wave scrollwork interspersed with four mythological maritime figures in high relief: two mermaids and two winged sea-creatures positioned at the cardinal points, with a crab at the top and two crossed tridents flanking it. The legends 2oz 999 SILVER and FIVE DOLLARS are inscribed across the inner ring on either side of the seal, with the date 2024 below and the issuer name NIUE prominently incused at the base.
