Reverse description The reverse portrays Zheng Yi Sao, the legendary Chinese female pirate commander known as the Mistress of the Sea, depicted in dynamic three-quarter pose aboard the deck of a sailing vessel. She is rendered in high relief, clad in an elaborately patterned red and gold robe with gilded shoulder armor and a red tricorn hat, and wields a sword in her left hand while grasping rigging with her right. Color is selectively applied to her garments in vivid red and gold tones, contrasting dramatically with the antiqued silver finish of the surrounding scene. In the background, ship rigging, sails, barrels, and a partially visible crewman are rendered in lower relief. The arched legend MISTRESS OF THE SEA appears in a banner at the top of the field.
