Reverse description The reverse presents an elaborate coloured composition evoking the iconic landmarks and character of Hong Kong. Dominating the right half is a large, finely modelled depiction of the Tian Tan Buddha statue at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, rendered in antiqued silver relief with exceptional sculptural detail. The Hong Kong skyline, featuring the distinctive Bank of China Tower and surrounding high-rise architecture, forms the background in both the upper left and upper right fields. To the left, a vibrant blue-enamelled harbour scene depicts multiple traditional Chinese junk vessels with red-coloured sails amid the waters of Victoria Harbour. A vertical purple-enamelled banner bearing the Latin legend 'HONG KONG' divides the left and right compositions. At the lower centre, two coloured panels bear the Chinese characters '香港' (Hong Kong) in seal script, highlighted in red and purple enamel respectively.
