Obverse description Uncrowned and undraped right-facing effigy of His Majesty King Charles III occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The engraver's initials 'JC' appear below the truncation. The legend 'CHARLES III' arcs along the left rim and 'NIUE · 5 DOLLARS' along the right rim, with 'NIUE' inscribed at the top of the field. The date '2024' is placed at the bottom of the field, flanked by two small dots on each side. A beaded inner border runs around the entire circumference.

Additional information

Niue has functioned as a prolific licensing vehicle for foreign bullion and commemorative programs since the 1990s, with the New Zealand-administered territory lending its legal tender framework to coins it has no economic relationship with. This piece is part of that arrangement — the actual minting and commercial distribution handled entirely outside the island's 1,600-person economy.

The "Golden Eagle" series targets the fractional gold market, where 1/10 oz and smaller denominations compete on premium-over-spot rather than collectibility. Charles III coinage of any kind remains early-issue by definition, given his accession in September 2022.
