Niue has served as a licensing vehicle for the New Zealand–based New Zealand Mint since the 1990s, issuing commemorative silver under its sovereign authority while holding virtually no independent monetary infrastructure of its own. The arrangement is entirely legal under the Realm of New Zealand compact, but these pieces are produced for collector sale, not circulation.
KM#6875 falls within a thematic "Earth" bullion-adjacent series under Charles III, whose effigy replaced Elizabeth II on Niue-issued coinage following her death in September 2022.
