Obverse description The obverse features the crowned Public Seal of Niue at center, rendered in fine relief within a decorative wreath surmounted by a royal crown. A scroll beneath the seal bears the Niuean motto 'ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI', flanked by two crossed ceremonial implements. The denomination legend 'FIVE DOLLARS' arcs above the seal in bold raised lettering, while the date '2023' appears below. The lower field carries the inscriptions '2 oz 999 Fine Silver' and 'BATMAN TM & © DC (s23)'; the entire design is set against a textured dotted background referencing the comic-book Ben-Day dot printing technique, with a trompe-l'oeil curling page corner at lower left.

Reverse description The reverse reproduces in full color the iconic cover artwork of Detective Comics No. 27 (May 1939), the historic first appearance of Batman. Against a bold red and yellow background, the caped figure of Batman swings on a rope while apprehending a villain over a rooftop cityscape, with a witness in a fedora observing from the lower left foreground. The masthead 'Detective COMICS' dominates the upper field in large stylized lettering, flanked by the issue number 'No. 27' at upper left, the date 'MAY, 1939' at upper right, and a circular blue badge reading '64 PAGES OF ACTION!' at top center. The original cover price '10¢' appears at lower right, and a promotional legend at lower left reads 'STARTING THIS ISSUE: THE AMAZING AND UNIQUE ADVENTURES OF THE BATMAN!'
