| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bold, three-quarter perspective view of El Castillo, the iconic step pyramid of Chichén Itzá, rendered in high sculptural relief with meticulous architectural detail across its tiered limestone terraces and steep central staircase. The pyramid dominates the entire field, its receding stepped platforms conveying a strong sense of depth and monumental scale. The legend CHICHÉN ITZÁ is inscribed along the lower border in a curved Latin legend, completing the design. |

Chichén Itzá was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007 — the latter a popular vote rather than a scholarly determination, which caused considerable friction among archaeologists at the time. Niue's use of the site for a bullion-adjacent gold issue follows a well-worn Pacific island strategy: leverage a Crown relationship for legal tender status while targeting the collector-investor crossover market entirely outside domestic circulation.
At 3.11 g of .9999 fine, this is a tenth-ounce format piece.
