Obverse description The obverse presents a detailed tactical nautical chart of the Battle of Trafalgar rendered in high relief against a finely engraved wave-pattern field, depicting the coastline of Spain to the right and the open Atlantic Ocean to the left. Rectangular cartouches in raised relief represent the opposing warships, with labelled formations identifying the British Fleet divided into the Division of Admiral Nelson and the Division of Vice Admiral Collingwood advancing in two columns, and the Combined French and Spanish Fleet arrayed in a curved line. A compass rose with the cardinal point N is positioned at centre-right, while a relief-modelled coastal landmass occupies the upper right. In the lower centre, the Public Seal of Niue is depicted within a crowned heraldic shield surrounded by an ornamental wreath with crossed anchors below, inscribed PUBLIC SEAL OF NIUE and ATUA NIUE TUKULAGI. The date 2023, issuer NIUE, denomination 5 DOLLARS, and fineness mark Ag 999 appear in the lower field.
