The legend KING CHARLES III arcs along the upper periphery, with TUVALU continuing along the upper right. The lower arc carries the specifications 5oz · 9999 Ag · 2024 · 5 DOLLARS, interrupted by raised bullet separators. The engraver's initials JC appear discreetly below the truncation of the portrait.

Reverse description Richly detailed and vibrantly colored reverse depicting five great inventions of ancient China, arranged around a central inset square panel featuring a finely engraved magnetic compass with a spoon-shaped lodestone pointer and Chinese cosmological markings, labeled COMPASS. In the four quadrants surrounding this central element, scenes represent SHIPBUILDING (upper field, with a Chinese junk amid stylized waves and mountainous landscape), GUNPOWDER (left field, with a colored cannon on a red-wheeled carriage), KITE FLYING (right field, with elaborately colored decorative kites and a figure flying them), and SEISMOGRAPH (lower field, with a rendered Han-dynasty-style seismograph vessel). The invention names SHIPBUILDING, GUNPOWDER, COMPASS, KITE FLYING, and SEISMOGRAPH are inscribed on the borders of the central square panel. The initials NM appear in the lower left of the field, denoting the reverse designer.
