Obverse description Uncrowned, draped effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief in a contemporary portrait style. The legend CHARLES III curves along the left periphery, with AUSTRALIA and the date 2026 continuing around the right side of the field. The engraver's initials DT appear in small characters beneath the truncation of the bust. This is the first official portrait of Charles III adopted by the Royal Australian Mint.

Reverse description A stylised juvenile Tasmanian devil (joey) rendered in a charming, cartoon-like manner sits centrally in the field, facing left with its nose raised toward a native wildflower. Surrounding the animal is a lush arrangement of Australian native flora, including grass stems and flowering plants depicted in fine relief. To the left of the design, a large numeral 5 is integrated into the composition above the denomination inscription DOLLARS. The engraver's initials EW appear in a small cartouche to the right of centre in the lower field.
