Reverse description A stylised, whimsical effigy of a young quokka joey depicted in three-quarter frontal view occupies the left and centre of the field, rendered in high relief with a cheerful expression and holding a small wildflower in its forepaws. The joey is surrounded by an abundant arrangement of native Australian wildflowers and grasses in low relief, filling the background. To the right, the large numeral 5 is rendered in an ornate script style, with the denomination legend DOLLARS inscribed beneath it. The engraver's monogram EW appears in small incuse letters at the lower left, near the coin's inner border.
