Additional information

Issued to mark Australia's participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this is one of several collector releases the Royal Australian Mint produced in the lead-up to the Games. Australia has maintained one of the longer continuous Olympic participation records, having attended every Summer Games since 1896 — Athens included — with the exception of the 1980 Moscow boycott.

The KM#4745 reference places this among the earliest catalog entries for Charles III portrait coinage from the RAM, as his effigy only began appearing on Australian issues from 2023 onward following the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022.
