| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Palau is depicted centrally within a decorative shield, featuring Neptune seated and holding a trident, accompanied by a mermaid to his right, a treasure chest to his left, and a crescent moon and eight-pointed star above; the shield is surmounted by a traditional Palauan outrigger canoe with a paddler. Eight five-pointed stars flank the shield in the field. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, the motto RAINBOW'S END appears in the lower portion of the shield, and the denomination 5$ is inscribed at the base of the coin. |
