| Obverse description | The obverse is shaped and textured to replicate the surface of a regulation basketball, with raised seam lines dividing the field into characteristic panels of fine pebbled granulation. At center, a recessed rectangular cartouche bears the national coat of arms of Samoa in contrasting color, depicting a quartered shield with the Southern Cross constellation and a coconut palm, surmounted by a Latin cross and flanked by olive branches, with the national motto on a scroll below. The country name SAMOA appears in raised lettering above the arms. The entire surface receives a 24-karat gold plate finish, lending the piece a uniform warm golden tone. |
