Obverse descriptionTexts in English and French. The number `5` is printed in waves of various colors. In the center at the top is the Coat of Arms of Canada. On the right is a portrait of Sir Henry Charles Wilfrid Laurier, statesman, Canada`s seventh Prime Minister from 1896 to 1911 and the first Francophone to hold this office. To the right of the portrait is a northeasterly view of the Centre Block and Library of Parliament as it appeared in Laurier`s day, with the Red Ensign flying on the tower.
