Obverse description	Green and black intaglio-printed note dated Toronto, 1st Nov. 1934, with the bank title IMPERIAL BANK OF CANADA set in bold letterpress across the upper register and the legend WILL PAY TO BEARER ON DEMAND below. Portrait vignettes of two bank officials — the President at right and the General Manager at left — flank a central guilloche medallion bearing the numeral 5 in an ornate lathe-work surround, with the serial number and prefix letter C appearing twice across the face. The denomination FIVE DOLLARS is repeated in the lower margin and within both vertical side panels, while the printer's imprint of the Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited runs along the base.

Reverse description	Printed entirely in green intaglio, the reverse is centred on a large circular vignette of a lion statant guardant atop a royal crown, enclosed within an elaborate guilloche border, with the bank title IMPERIAL BANK OF CANADA arcing across the top of the central frame. Bold numerals 5 occupy the left and right panels within ornate lathe-work cartouches, while the denomination FIVE DOLLARS is lettered in serif capitals along the lower margin. The printer's imprint CANADIAN BANK NOTE COMPANY LIMITED appears at the base.
