Obverse description Black intaglio print on white paper with a green guilloche underprint. The centre carries a large ornate numeral '5' vignette flanked by the roman numeral 'V' in green on both sides, with portrait medallions of two distinguished gentlemen to the left and right respectively. The bank title 'IMPERIAL BANK OF CANADA' is engraved in bold lettering across the top, with the place and date 'Toronto, Nov. 1st 1934' below the central vignette, and the denomination 'FIVE DOLLARS' in a solid panel at the base, accompanied by two manuscript signatures of the General Manager and President.
