Reverse description Printed in rich orange-brown with a green central vignette, the reverse is dominated by an oval engraved view of the bank's principal office building set amid palm trees. The building vignette is surrounded by an elaborate guilloche lattice pattern, with four circular medallion vignettes in the corners each enclosing small allegorical or scenic vignettes and the inscription FIVE DOLLARS. The bank's full title THE CHARTERED BANK OF INDIA, AUSTRALIA AND CHINA arches across the top and bottom of the central oval.
