The Northern Crown Bank was chartered in 1904 and absorbed by the Royal Bank of Canada in 1908 — the same year this note was issued — making the operational window for Northern Crown paper extraordinarily short. Notes bearing this date were almost certainly in circulation at or near the moment the acquisition closed, and many would have been promptly withdrawn and destroyed by the Royal Bank during the transition.
The British American Bank Note Company's Ottawa plant handled the work, as it did for most Canadian chartered bank issues of the period. D.H. McMillan served as General Manager; C. Coats as Cashier.
