Obverse description The obverse is printed in black on pale paper with a green tint underprint of repeated numeral fives along the lower border. The bank title THE MOLSONS BANK arches across the top, with the date Montreal, Oct. 2nd 1905 and serial number C/419417 flanking both sides. Two intaglio portrait vignettes — one at left, one at right — frame a central allegorical vignette of a standing figure with shield and decorative surround, above the promise text WILL PAY TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND / FIVE DOLLARS; two manuscript signatures appear below, identified as President and General Manager.

Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in green, with a large central oval guilloche medallion bearing the inscriptions MOLSONS BANK and the numeral 5 on each side, enclosed within an elaborate lathe-work border of interlocking rosettes and repeated ornamental engine-turned patterns that fill the entire field.
