Obverse description Black intaglio print on brown underprint. The British coat of arms appears as a central vignette, flanked diagonally by the overprint text "Issued at BARBADOS Principal Bank" on both sides. Two oval denomination counters bearing "$5" are positioned at left and right, with the serial number printed in black beneath each. The promise-to-pay text, date, and place of issue are rendered in copperplate script across the centre, with manuscript signatures of the Manager and Accountant at lower right.
