| Obverse description | The obverse displays the full coat of arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field, enclosed within a fine beaded border. The shield, depicting a British galleon in full sail above wavy lines, is supported to the left by a marlin and to the right by a flamingo, both rendered with fine engraved detail. A helmet surmounted by a conch shell crest and flanked by tropical foliage appears above the shield. A scroll below the arms bears the national motto FORWARD UPWARD ONWARD TOGETHER in raised letters. The legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs around the upper periphery, with the date 1983 positioned at the base of the field. |
