Additional information

Issued under the FAO coinage program, which recruited member nations throughout the 1970s to mint coins carrying agricultural themes as a form of international development messaging. Morocco's participation reflected Hassan II's broader effort to align the kingdom with multilateral institutions during a period when the FAO program was at its peak global reach — over 70 countries eventually produced issues under the scheme.

The second portrait series replaced the first beginning in 1974, a relatively minor redesign but one that created a clean collector distinction within the Hassan II dirham sequence.
